This is how I write. I have NEVER been able to follow an outline. As a result, sometimes the characters of my story have run away with the plot, and stolen the spotlight unexpectedly, but even in those times I have enjoyed seeing where they took the story. I never outlined my papers in high school or college ahead of time. In all honesty, I SUCK at outlining.
I’m with you there! The thought of an outline makes me sweat, and when I think I know where things are going, the characters tend to take over. I try to have some idea where I’m ultimately headed, but how I get there is usually as much of a surprise to me as anyone! I kind of enjoy it that way. 🙂
